A Simple Writing Toolkit for Students and Creators

A practical browser writing workflow for essays, scripts, captions, newsletters, and study notes using word counts, reading time, proofreading, and summaries.

Writing gets easier when the tool matches the moment. You do not need a giant dashboard for every draft. Sometimes you need a word count. Sometimes you need to know whether the paragraph is doing too much. Sometimes you need a calm proofreading pass before you press send.

Here is a small toolkit you can use in a browser with ProText.

For essays and assignments

Start with the Word Counter while you draft. Use the number to see whether each section has enough room to explain the idea, not to pad the page.

When the structure is ready, check sentences and paragraphs. A page with a reasonable word count can still be difficult to read if every paragraph is the same size or every sentence runs long.

For captions, bios, and applications

Open the Character Counter when the platform gives you a character limit. Keep an eye on spaces and punctuation because they are part of the room your text takes up.

Write the clearest version first. Trim second. Trying to write inside a tiny limit from the first keystroke is a fine way to make every sentence feel like it is wearing a backpack.

For newsletters and articles
